Department of Mathematics is a part of Koszalin University of Technology since it was founded in 1968. Although the Department belongs to the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Environmental and Geodetic Sciences, the Department’s academic staff teach also students of other divisions of the University. These are mainly lectures and exercises in mathematics and statistics, as well as additional classes in mathematics for first-year students.

All Department's academics are educated to graduate level in mathematics, though successive degrees gained also in other scientific disciplines, including: civil engineering, machinery construction and operation. In the area of science, subjects of interest of the researchers in the Department of Mathematics are, among others: theory of vibration, initial and boundary value problems in the construction dynamics, theory of differential equations and problems of mathematical physics, time series classification, two-dimensional cutting optimization.
